Patrick and Erin Stone have just
moved here from Greenwood, SC and now live only a few minutes from
the church. Both grew up in small towns near the beach,
Johnsonville and Hemingway respectively, and have just celebrated
their 1-year wedding anniversary. Patrick worked with the youth at
his hometown church Prospect PHC for several years, teaching both
the Teen Sunday School class and the Wednesday Night Youth Group.
Erin was an active member of the music ministry of her hometown
church, Poplar Hill Free Will Baptist Church, and is a member of the
East Columbia Choir.
Their vision for the youth at
East Columbia PHC includes building a youth group founded on Christ
and allowing the kids to learn through games and activities. When
Christ taught the multitudes, he consistently used examples from
their every day life. Paul said in 1 Corinthians that unto
the Jews he became as a Jew, that he might gain the Jews.
In other words, to capture the attention of the youth, you must be
willing to have fun yourself and have a youthful spirit. And as
long as Jesus Christ is the center of it all – their hearts might be
gained for the glory of God!
